Bluesky's History

1996

Russell starts work for Nekem Plastic Containers in Hull, developing the diversification into industrial packaging such as bottles, jerricans and pails.

1999

Nekem Plastic Containers relocates to Grimsby, purchasing a new distribution centre.

Keith Wade joins the team

2000

Barry Wade joins the team

2003

BLUESKY is founded! Nekem review their long-term strategy and Russell and David complete an MBO.

2004

To support continuing growth BLUESKY moves up the road to a larger distribution centre.

Vern Wade joins the team

Responding to changes in the market, BLUESKY's focus is concentrated to markets using bottles and jars up to 1L in capacity

2005

Adrian Wade joins the team

2008

To support continuing growth BLUESKY moves up the road to a larger distribution centre. This 33,000 sqft building on a 2-acre site looked big enough for ongoing expansion.

2011

Target market further refined to supplying SME's in the personal care, health & wellbeing and private label markets, majoring on the supply of PET bottles and jars.

2012

BLUESKY ranges grow to include Aluminium bottles and jars. To support the growth in stock we utilise 3PL external storage and distribution facilities.

2017

As our expertise in the personal care, health & wellbeing and niche markets grows, BLUESKY offers consultancy to brand owners, suggesting suppliers for product formulation, contract filling, labels, cartons and fulfilment services.

2018

BLUESKY launches its end-to-end service to Indie Brand Owners, managing the entire new product development process.

2020

In response to the Covid-19 pandemic, BLUESKY invest in production lines to support the nations need for hand sanitiser and antibacterial liquid soap.

BLUESKY invest in a further 26,000 sqft building and at the same time increase the 3PL facility to 2,500 pallets spaces.
